Rosie’s Royal Encounters

The last 6 months have been really hectic for Welsh mouth painter Rosie Moriarty-Simmonds OBE, since she became High Sheriff of South Glamorgan.

Among the many official engagements Rosie was required to fulfill as High Sheriff, two opportunities to meet with members of the Royal Family were particular highlights. The first of those was for the Jubilee weekend celebrations, during which Rosie was delighted to be part of Cardiff’s official welcoming party for their Royal Highnesses the now Prince and Princess of Wales, along with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, when they paid a visit to the City on 4th June 2022.

In early July, Rosie was also present at the BBC Wales Studios in Cardiff when the former HRH The Prince of Wales, and The Duchess of Cornwall, now King Charles III and Queen Consort, were given a guided tour of the new complex. Rosie also managed to show their Royal Highnesses a photograph of a portrait she painted of him, which is part of a collection of portraitures of famous people with a Welsh connection she has been working on over the last year, which she hopes to exhibit soon. Pleasingly it would appear the image also received the Royal seal of approval. “I am happy to say they both liked it!” said Rosie.
