Painting of Singer Hits the Right Note
Welsh artist Rosie Moriarty-Simmonds OBE has embarked on a very special artistic journey, to paint the portraits of famous Welsh entertainers, actors, sports stars, and other celebrities that have iconic links to the country.
The mouth painting artist contacted over 18 famous personalities, requesting their permission to allow her to paint their portraits. The first of these portraits was recently completed, that of the famous singer and entertainer, Michael Ball. A framed print of the image was then sent to him by Rosie, to which he wrote on his Twitter account, “I urge everyone to watch the video of how you created it. Inspirational. Bloody love it and you”!

Once completed, Rosie’s long-term plan is to hold an exhibition of her collection of portraits and to raise funds from print reproductions of the paintings to support NSPCC Cymru and National Crimebeat.
Work on the artist’s next portrait of famous Welsh film star Michael Sheen is already underway. So, look out for more information on this and other portraits in the series to come, as Rosie paints her way around the celebrities of Wales.
